Hi,
I’m Kirilly, a Barkindji woman, doula and embodiment practitioner.
My work is in guiding people into their bodies to connect with yourself, to the living land, and those you’re in relation with, so that we may create more space for embodied living.
My offerings are for those who are on any continuum of the conception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum (you are postpartum for life) journey, as well as those who desire mentoring with a somatic movement and trauma informed approach. I offer full spectrum doula care to the Northern Rivers community on Bundjalung Country, as well as 1:1 somatic care and embodiment sessions.
why movement and birth?
Movement and birth are intrinsically connected. My studies in both areas inform and influence each other, as well as how I show up as a care provider and facilitator. Our movement begins before conception, and as we form ourselves into being, we do so through both the movement within our cells, and the way we move with our environment. Movement is our constant way.
Birth is a dance of movement and stillness; all is in motion. Somatic practices support you to have an empowered and embodied birth experience, as they deepen your trust in your body, intuition, connection to ancestry and country, and help you to meet fears and sensations with curiosity and somatic awareness.
Somatic movement aids us in reorienting our presence within our sensuous and deeply feeling body. It is a way of coming home to the body and develops a greater relationship of intimacy and trust. Through this process we free ourselves to move from a place that is guided by the intelligence and intuition we carry within. This is not only fundamental for birth preparation and integration, but also in our daily lives. We birth the way we live, and this work navigates us towards more connected and meaningful embodied experiences.
I am fascinated by our innate ability to feel, and communicate with, the unseen - the inner landscape of the body, our intuition, our subconscious - and the spaces inside us ready for healing. Somatics is a tool to open up the channel of communication, with what is willing and ready to be felt and healed. It is a gentle way of finding our way through, and home. My work is informed by Body-Mind Centering, Somatic Expressive Therapies, dance and embodiment practices, and is trauma informed with an attachment and relational focus.
I offer full spectrum doula support both in person and online, 1:1 somatic care sessions for postpartum mothers; as well as 1:1 embodiment and movement mentorship.
